WAYNE Spring 2011 was a marvelous collection with inspiration coming from carnivorous flowers and art work by HR Giger. It was a mix of hard and soft, forest and city a real urban jungle if you will.
The colour palette was earthy and neutral with pops of indigo. I loved the mix of fabrics from leather to lace, denim to prints. There was alot was going on but it still managed to be modern, sophisticated and powerful.
Designer Wayne Lee depicts the girl of this seasons collection as being "like Pris, the Replicant, in Bladerunner; she's smart, strong and dangerous, yet also a delicate and vulnerable flower."
This is definitely visible in the clothes with the toughness of the zippered leather corset and hint of delicate lace just visible underneath a khaki dress.
The Makeup for the show was provided by TEMPTU a great collaboration as it goes along with the theme of the collection, modern and sophisticated.
The head makeup artist for the show Danielle Fonseca created a neutral, light, fresh look to complement the collection.
For the face she used TEMPTU airbrush foundation to even out the skin and give it a dewy finish.
She then used TEMPTU air pod highlighter in 'Champagne' (another faviourite of mine) to highlight the cheeks and brow bone.
On the eyes the TEMPTU pro team used a brand new colour 'All Over Bronzer' air pod, which is yet to be released and will be available from sephora in the spring.
They used this all over the lids and then added a darker colour to line the eyes and a soft neutral colour to blend out the crease.
For the cheeks they used another yet to be released airpod blush in 'Peony'.
The lips were changed on the original face chart from a light pink to a terracotta to better compliment the clothes.
Which it definitely does, the look was natural and didn't over power the clothes at all.
I think anything more that this would have been too much.
The accessories for this collection are to die for this oversized washed leather travel bag is gorgeous. I love the chunky silver zip and saggy worn in leather.
Its one of those items which will look good no matter how bad you treat it.
Perfect for an effortless chic look.
The shoes for the show where created in collaboration with WAYNE by LD Tuttle.
And finally TEMPTU created these amazing temporary tattoos especially for the WAYNE show.
They were designed by artist Hope Gangloff and feature designs of carnivorous plants like the venus flytrap and pitcher plant. Which is part of where the original inspiration for the collection came from.
TEMPTU temporary tattoos are unique compared to traditional temporary tattoos as they use navy blue ink to better resemble an authentic tattoo. They also don't leave a layer on the skin like a traditional temporary tattoo would.
Overall I think this collection was well thought out, very sophisticated yet rockery and very New York.
