Ani-Kaleido-Print Hits The High Street

If you remember the London Micro trend Ani-Kaleido-Print I spotted last year at London Fashion Week, well it's slowly starting to seep into high street fashion. Late in the season I know but I guess the high street will be using it as a transition into spring in the next coming months.

This skirt from ZARA is a perfect example, I adore this print I just wish they made it in jeans so I could actually wear it myself.

Next up I spotted these scarfs both from Topshop which are another simple and cheap way to incorporate Ani-Kaleido-Print into an outfit.

Also from ZARA, who always capture trends perfectly, is this dress which is a sort of smoke and mirrors type kaleidoscopic print.

And finally another dress but this time from Miss Selfridge, this ones much more graphic, not so animalistic but perfect for a party.

So what are your thoughts on this trend? I can see it being really big in the coming months, wether it's animalistic, smokey or plain graphic. Kaleidoscopic (or mirrored as I've seem some stores touting it as) is definitely something to keep an eye on.

MARNI at H&M | Spring 2012 | Collaboration Collection

Now then here is something to really get excited about, MARNI the famous italian fashion house will be collaborating with H&M this spring, for a mens and womenswear collection.

I have to say this is fantastic news, I really wasn't impressed with last years Versace for H&M collection one iota, it was garish, tasteless and screamed fashion victim in my opinion. All those oriental and palm prints bleugh!! just plain wrong but whats more is this advert....

Well the ad just rubbed me up the wrong way. Donatella is running some kind of Nazi dictatorship camp, prodding and poking her fashion victim puppets in cages and working them on a hamster wheel, to churn out her cheap garments from the Versace for H&M machine. I found it highly disrespectful to anyone intending on buying from the collection and to top it off her finishing line was "my house, my rules, my pleasure". Well I don't play by your rules Donatella and in my opinion you've trampled over any aspirational, glamourous or desirable appeal your "house" might once of had.

Don't get me wrong I adored 2010s Lanvin for H&M collection, Alber Elbaz did things right with dignity and respect for the brand he represents with his "H&M is going luxury, rather than Lanvin is going public" concept. It seems however that H&M is churning every last penny out of the dryed up old prune that is Donatella Versace, by releasing a follow up collection to Versace H&M launching online this coming spring.

Once we are over the hump that is that tanned old kipper [they said it not me], I am really looking forward to seeing what Consuelo Castiglioni comes up with for the Marni H&M collection. I used to be an avid follower of the Marni collections from about 05-07 but after then I wasn't too fussed about what they came out with and stopped paying attention, hopefully we will get to see some classic Marni colours, prints and of course statement jewellery.
The MARNI collection launches on March 8th 2012 at 260 H&M stores worldwide and online at www.hm.com.

Line, Dot, Electric Shock!

Well 2011 hasn't exactly been the best year for me, I've had numerous technical errors, computer collapses, file corruptions, website outages, midlife crises, break ups, set backs and general unluckiness. Which hasn't exactly made for the most productive year, but here is a look back at what made 2011 what it was for me.

The year began with a break up, I decided to call things off with my long time partner of 4 years, as things weren't moving forward and in my 21st year of life, I wanted to experience new things. This didn't exactly work out as you'll find out later but I began drawing up a plan in my (can't function without) Moleskine notebook of what I wanted to do and achieve in 2011. Which started off well when I was offered the opportunity to attend and cover London Fashion Week for M.A.C Cosmetics. I was all on my own this time as usually my boyfriend would help me out with filming and things but I managed well and had an amazing experience along the way. The technical difficulties occurred later however, I really took on too much as I was filming for M.A.C and my own youtube channel as well as taking photos for the blog. During the editing process my 3 year old MacBook conked out on me and had to go in for repair, when I got it back all the video footage from day one of filming and some of the photos from day two and three were corrupt and unusable.
(these are some of the corrupt photos I managed to retrieve from my old hard drive, which are obviously unusable for a regular post.)

Once I managed to retrieve most of the footage and photos off my old MacBook hard drive, I ran in to further issues with the last few blog posts from Fashion Week. Blogger the site that hosts my blog was down in around May and alot of people were losing posts that were posted on a certain date. I was one of them and this post [backstage-paul-smith] was entirely lost and never recovered by Blogger in the outage. I had to recreate the post but couldn't remember a single word I had originally written, which is why there is hardly any text involved.

Next up I lost my trusty Moleskine notebook whilst on a trip to IKEA and couldn't remember anything I had set out to achieve. My life spiraled into the abyss as I struggled to find a grip of who I was and what I was doing, I went through an early midlife crises and the impending doom of turning 21 (which terrified me because I was officially an adult) sent me searching through my past for everything I had ever wanted to achieve. I ended up buying a 2006 'IT' bag, searching for a new boyfriend, planning a trip to Las Vegas, auditioning for Big Brother and dyeing my hair. But one experience changed my path (which I won't go into) and I ended up speaking to my partner again, we patched things up and I realized how important he is to me.

I'm now searching for new inspirations in life and I hope this blog doesn't come across as miserable, but I don't usually share my personal life online. I think sometimes people forget that I'm not a corporation and that I'm a real person with ups and downs just like everyone else. These are my life experiences and life isn't always plain sailing, but you live and you learn and I hope that 2012 will be a much more positive year for me.

Christmas Window Displays - London 2011

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in London, So I decided to take a walk around town and capture all the brilliant Christmas window displays put on by the capitals greatest stores.

Starting off with Harrods, A London landmark best known for its exuberant, decadent and sometimes distasteful style.

The theme of their windows this year is a 'Crystal Christmas'.

Which showcases the stunning glitters of Swarovski Crystals.

Next stop was just down the street at Harvey Nichols. Now I have to admit, I wasn't that impressed with their windows.

The close up shots look good, but from far away it just looked a mess.

I guess that's the look and feel their going for, cutting edge and dilapidated.

Maybe a few years ago 'dilapidated chic' would've worked for me, but in this economy I need some excessive glamour to brighten my spirits, especially around christmas and this just wasn't doing it.

Dolce & Gabbana really pulled out the quirk factor with this Asian market stall inspired shop window.

Miu Miu was as cute and glittery as ever.

Liberty went for a 'Twelve Days of Christmas' theme in their classically eccentric, avant-garde and utterly charming way.

Louis Vuitton was circus themed. Which could've been done better, but hey, you just can't beat a classic LV trunk.

Lanvin had fabulous windows as always and are opting for a more politically correct message by wishing in the new year.

And of course finally is the mothership Selfridges, who always out do everyone with their phenomenal christmas windows and this year is no exception.

The theme this year is a 'White Christmas' which is ironic as it doesn't look like we will have one this year.

Everything is white, grey, silver and black.

I love the detail of Selfridges window displays, any element can be captured and still be strong.

I hope you enjoyed my London tour of this years christmas windows and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Louis Vuitton - The Art Of Fashion Exhibition

I love the concept of this exhibition created by Katie Grand & Louis Vuitton for the La Triennale di Milano design museum in Italy. It's a modern take on a retrospective of the last 13 years of ready to wear clothing & accessories from the famous Parisian brand.

The exhibition was only open for a short period from September 22nd to October 9th but take a look at these amazing images that capture the event in it's full glory.

All the best collections are in there from the original Stephen Sprouse collaboration of 2001, The Takashi Marakami cherry blossom & multicolore of 2003, The miroir & leopard of 2006 and of course the second Stephen Sprouse commemorative collab of 2009.

Louis Vuitton has only been creating ready to wear clothing for the last 13 years, before then it was just a luxury luggage company. This exhibition really goes to show how much of a historic fashion archive they've managed to build in such a short period of time.

I really wish I was able to visit this exhibition, maybe one day it will travel to a London museum and I'll be able to see it.

My New LANVIN Sneakers

I've been wanting a pair of Lanvin sneakers for a while but never liked the colour combinations, then I saw these pop up on farfetch and I couldn't resist ordering them.

They came from a boutique in Italy and I'm absolutely obsessed with them.

The classic Lanvin baby blue bow box, I wonder what's inside??

These babies of course!! ahhh love at first sight.

They are a grey teal blue satin material with blue grosgrain ribbon laces, a black patent toe and a white sole. One thing I really liked about the colour combination on this pair, is that I could easily change out the laces for almost any coloured grosgrain ribbon, and it would still match the shoes plain colours.

That way I had multiple ways of wearing them and matching them with different outfits, so there multifunctional but still add colour to an outfit, without being plain black.

Which is something really important to think about when buying any pricey clothing or accessories, how much use will you get out of them?

Another one of my favourite features is the patent toe, look how glossy and shiny it is!!

I love patent leather and have a lot of patent accessories so this is another great way of bringing a look together.

Overall I love my new Lanvin sneakers and they will finally get me out of the converse I constantly wear.

If you haven't checked out www.farfetch.com I seriously recommend doing so.

It's a great site where small fashion boutiques from all around the world can join together and sell their stock through farfetch. The reason I love it, is that it gives you access to stock from designers that stores in your area may not have ordered. So you have a much better selection of clothes from a collection, than you would in say Browns or Harvey Nics.

CHANEL Peridot Nail Lacquer Review

Chanel Peridot Le Vernis Nail Colour has got to be my all time favourite nail polish of the year. I ran out to get it the day it was released because I knew I couldn't miss out on this chameleon of a colour.

It's a rich decadent champagne gold with a green duo chrome and depending on how the light hits it, it can look more green or more gold. It reminds me of a beetle shell, it's absolutely stunning and fits surprisingly well with almost any outfit ensemble.

It goes on opaque in 2 coats and lasts a few days, I have found with most Chanel nail polishes though that they tend to chip quite quickly. Its also a joy to use as it drys quickly and the brush applies just the right amount of product with each stroke.

Due to its phenomenal success when it was released in August, Chanel have now made it part of their permanent line, so there is no need to worry (like I did) that it will be sold out. If you don't have this already I seriously recommend checking it out, you won't be disappointed.

LUSH Gets Down & DIRTY

A range for dirty devils, Simon Constantine has been working hard with the other inventors to create a sophisticated range of products for men to use every day. Build up the full Dirty fragrance by using and wearing all of his spearmint, neroli and sandalwood creations during your morning routine.

Dirty is uncompromising and fresh. Its clean, herbal character stands at odds with its name. It’s a no-nonsense fragrance that hits you with intensely crisp spearmint, thyme and tarragon, and the subtle smell of calm seas. Dirty is an invigorating, cathartic breath of fresh air that stirs up something primal.

So thats the Lush blurb on the Dirty range which was released earlier this year but I've been testing out the products for the past few months and here are my thoughts, opinions and experiences on the products in the line.

I didn't have high hopes for the line at first as it is aimed at guys and those kinds of products don't usually appeal to me but as you will see I was pleasantly surprised.

Starting off with the Dirty Shaving Cream: £4.95/100g

I've tried a few Lush shaving creams before and never really been overly impressed. Ambrosia Shaving Cream for example left an oily film on the skin after shaving which I couldn't stand so I didn't expect much from Dirty Shaving Cream. Plus it was up against tough competition as I have recently discovered Origins Blade Runner, which has since become my holy grail of shaving creams. With that being said I was surprisingly impressed with Dirty Shaving Cream, it didn't leave my skin with an oily layer like Ambrosia and left the skin with a moisturized, supple feeling similar to what the Origins Blade Runner does. I would certainly say the two are compairable but in my opinion Blade Runner gets a closer shave than Dirty does. I much prefer shaving creams to foams because foams can be full of harsh chemicals which generally strip the skin of any natural oils therefore, drying it out which can be hell for my normal/dry skin.

The cream is a white, semi thick non sticky cream with a light generic Lush cream scent which isn't minty like the rest of the products in the Dirty Range, It is made up of oat milk, shea butter, honey, cedarwood, lavender and tonka absolute. My only gripe with this product is the packaging as the jar isn't really practical. I always worry I will get to much product out at once or spill water from shaving into the jar. Also scooping product out of a jar with your fingers isn't really the most hygienic way of applying skincare especially with something used for shaving. Bacteria from your fingers could contaminate the remaining product which will then be applied to your bare shaven skin and could cause you to break out. The packaging is a minor flaw but as explained it could lead to dire consequences, a simple tube or bottle would solve this issue. Packaging aside the product works great and it is more than half the price of the Origins Blade Runner, so I would certainly recommend it as a cheaper alternative.

Next up is the Dirty Hair Styling Cream: £6.50/100g

Again I had tried a few other Lush hair styling products in the past and never thought much of them. I believe they have all been discontinued now so I guess I wasn't the only one left underwhelmed, But again Dirty came up trumps and surprised me. I have very thick longish hair which I like to wear quite spiky and unfortunately none of the previous Lush hair creams/gels could deal with that, they all either left my hair flat or greasy looking. Dirty styling cream however gave my hair the look I'm after and really built volume from the root, making my style last all day.

The product is a creamy colour with the consistency of slightly melted ice cream.

One thing I didn't like about the consistency of the product is that it isn't completely smooth and has chunks in it. When applied to the hair it feels almost dirty and unclean, which I got used to but still didn't like that much. It isn't really sticky and gunky like some hair products I've used, which worried me at first because I didn't think it would have the hold to keep my hair up.

But here is and example of the style I was able to achieve with this product. As you can see it has excellent hold and brilliant volume, no flopping or greasiness to be seen. It is slightly shinyer looking than I like but This is pretty much exactly how I like my hair to look, I was blown away that dirty achieved this perfectly with very little effort. I had previously been using the TRESemmé Fibre Putty which was recently discontinued so this is the perfect replacement to that.

Now on to Dirty Springwash Shower Gel: £4.95/100g - £8.50/250g - £14.95/500g

A minty shower gel is not something I would usually go for but this is a delectably sweet candy spearmint scent, not a fresh earthy peppermint like Lush's Retro Shower Gel Freeze. The scent reminds me of sneakily eating spearmint Polos at school which was the ultimate luxury when in class. I love washing my hands with it because it leaves them feeling really clean and lightly mint scented. It is also great to use in the shower in the morning to wake you up and get you ready for the day ahead. Lush recommend using it in the hair, as they do with most of their shower gels. Since I have colour treated hair this is not something I like to do, as it can leave my hair feeling dry and could fade my colour. I'm sure however that alot of guys in a rush wouldn't mind using it that way. As I am writing this I only have the tiniest drop left in the 100g bottle which goes to show how much I have enjoyed using it. I have a vast selection of shower gels to choose from and this is the one I've been reaching for the most lately, so I will have to pick up a 500g bottle when I'm finished with this one.

Then we have Dirty Body Spray: £12.50/180g (200ml)

This body spray was inspired by what Lush describe as an 'Italian shower'. Which is where apparently "men of all ages, leap out of bed in the morning, spray under the t-shirt they've been wearing all night, and head out of the door".While this is something I would never do myself as I'm a very clean fellow, I can totally see the benefits and how it would appeal to some dirty scoundrels out there. The scent is actually really appealing and not overly masculine like them vile 1970s musky lynx/old spice fragrances that I can't stand. I find those scents make a person smell dirtier, this however is ripe refreshing and clean but not in a soapy way. It has a blast of invigorating spearmint to wake you up and then settles down into a more complex woodsy scent with herbs, oakmoss, sandlewood and absolutely no overpowering musk. Having said that, this fragrance does have a good scent throw and lasting power despite it being a body spray. I actually like that its a body spray as its cool and refreshing when applied and the way the packaging is designed it blasts you with fragrance and I can imagine it would be great in the summer. Girls don't be afraid to try this either as the scent is really unique and would appeal to a man, woman or child of any age.

And finally are Dirty Toothy Tabs: £2.00/12g

These little baking soda and kaolin powder tabs are one of Lush's latest inventions to combat the excess packaging, preservatives and artificial ingredients of regular toothpaste tubes. Each box contains 40 tabs which you use by crunching one between your teeth, brushing with a wet toothbrush until it starts to foam, then after 3 minutes, spit it out and rinse your mouth out with water. Pretty simple huh?! but what is my opinion on these?, Well Lush recommend using these twice a day everyday as you would with a regular toothpaste. In my opinion, I wouldn't use these as my only toothpaste as they simply don't clean my mouth effectively enough and leave a chalky dry flavour.

Don't get me wrong I do think there is a use for these dirty tooth tab devils. I will have a more in depth review on these and the other flavour toothy tabs soon, which will tell you the ins and outs in more detail. But I can tell you now that out of all of the toothy tabs I tried the dirty ones were my favourite, they have a close to classic minty flavour which left my mouth and breath feeling and smelling the freshest out of all the ones I tried. So what use are they If they can't be used as an everyday toothpaste?, Well I think they are brilliant to chuck in your bag, carry around town and freshen up on the go before a night out but I certainly wouldn't use them as my everyday toothpaste.

Overall I was surprisingly impressed with all the products in the Lush Dirty range. Although I do think that this range has been mismarketed. Right off the bat it alienates certain customers such as myself, as well as female customers who I think the line would also really appeal to. Another marketing mishap in my opinion is that Lush recommend buying all the products and using them in combination to create the complete Dirty fragrance. This is totally unnecessary as some of the products smell nothing like Dirty and that kind of bulk link selling puts people off purchasing all together.
I say just see these products for what they are, individual products and pick the ones that appeal to you most, then you can get down and dirty with them how ever you feel like.

Firstly the bottle, How incredibly stunning is it! The pump, perched on its golden neck like a shiny black half moon, is the striking finale to the bottle.

Candy has top notes of musk, heart notes of vanilla and base notes of carmel and benzoin, which sounds incredible to me I love sugary sweet scents.

LUSH Gorilla Perfumes - B Side Fragrance Challenge

Earlier this month Lush White City set me a challenge to test out three unknown and unlabeled fragrances from the Gorilla Perfume B Side range. I accepted the challenge and here are my thoughts on the mysterious fragrances in question.

I have the three fragrances here and I'm going to do my best to explain the notes and emotions these fragrances evoke and ultimately which one is my favourite.

So first up is fragrance number one ?

This fragrance has a strong sherbet lemon top note and is ultra sharp and sweet on first sniff. It has an almost household cleaner scent to start but as it dries down a sugary candy affair evolves like candy floss and rainbow dust this fragrance reminds me of a circus or funfair with fireworks and rockets in the sky, it really is magical in every scents (see what I did there) of the word.

Next number two ?

Not my favourite of the bunch slightly too perfumey to me. It starts out smelling strongly of ylang ylang and then softens into an almost cocktail like scent slightly fruity and alcoholic, like a Cosmo good for a night out with the girls but not for me.

And finally mystery fragrance number three ?

Slightly like soap and citronella to start but as it warms up it blossoms into a mouth watering apple and cinnamon scent. It reminds me of a country fete, bobbing for apples, lucky dip its childlike but tactile.

So there we have it! but ultimately the question remains which one is my favourite? Well it has to be number one, I love anything sickeningly sweet and it is on another level of sweetness, now all I need is Lush to tell me what it is so I can get myself a bottle.

Sugarpill New Chromalusts Review & Swatches

Sugarpill have released seven new Chromalust loose eyeshadows as their first addition to the line since the brand was launched last year. I have all seven new party girl shades here to review and they sure don't disappoint.

All the Chromalust loose eyeshadows are uber shimmery and some even have super fine glitter particles in so if your a glitter bug you'll love these.

First up Weekender which is a muted violet with blue and pink shimmer which Sugarpill describe as a "Metallic blue-violet with intense sparkle and sheen".

Paperdoll is a soft lilac with pink shimmer/glitter which Sugarpill describe as a "Lovely lavender with dazzling shimmer and sparkle".

Birthday Girl is a soft fuchsia with pink and gold shimmer/glitter which Sugarpill describe as "Sweet princess pink with iridescent fuchsia sparkles".

Stella is a black infused with multicolour shimmer/glitter which sugarpill describe as "Sweet princess pink with iridescent fuchsia sparkles".

Darling is a teal with turquoise shimmer that Sugarpill describe as "Stunning teal loaded with iridescent turquoise star bursts".

Tipsy is a lime green with lime and gold sparkle that Sugarpill describe as "High-shimmer true grass green".

And Finally Magentric which is a rich magenta with blue shimmer which Sugarpill describe as "Metallic deep magenta with a dazzling turquoise sheen".

Overall I really love all the new shades Sugarpill have released and they all perform pretty much the same which is why I haven't reviewed them individually.

I find with most indie brands of loose eyeshadow that they apply sheerly but these are buildable but best used wet and over a sticky base. They give a brilliant metallic finish when used wet (as you can see from the picture above) and apply super opaquely.

My favourite shades are Stella of course because it is so incredibly gorgeous and the multicolour glitter/shimmer makes it really unique. As well as Magentric and Darling which along with Stella are the best performing shades in terms of pigmentation.

The least performing shades being Birthday Girl, Paperdoll and Tipsy which are still great shades but lack some pigmentation.

OCC LO-FI S/S 2011 Collection Review & Swatches

OCC LO-FI is a polarizing reaction to the HD makeup craze, OCC encourages makeup artists and enthusiasts alike to shrug off the scrutiny and bring it back to basics, with a palette of resolute shades that bring rack focus back to the wearer. This selection six new Lip Tars, Loose Colours and Nail Lacquers does just that, in a strong and fearless fashion.

'Reverb' Lip Tar

Reverb is a true red with yellow undertones which OCC describe as a "YELLOW-BASED FIRE ENGINE RED" . I found that it applied opaquely and gives the lips a real Snow White look.

'Interlace' Lip Tar

Interlace is a neutral peach shade which OCC describe as a "SUBTLE PEACH NEUTRAL". I found that it didn't apply as opaquely as I would have liked but this is an issue I have noticed sometimes with Lip Tars which I will talk more about later.
Other than that a great wearable summer shade.

'Lo-Fi' Lip Tar

Lo-Fi which OCC describe as an "OPAQUE MINT GREEN, ALSO NEUTRALIZES RED" but it is in fact a lime green with yellow undertones. As OCC mention it can be used under foundation to correct any redness but it works much better as an edgy editorial lime lip, a unique shade to find and I found that it did apply as opaquely as expected.

'Analog' Lip Tar

Analog is an unusual shade for me which OCC describe as 'TOBACCO LEAF GOLDEN BROWN' but it reminds me of cola bottles. Its certainly not a shade I would wear unless it was for a specific look but I can imagine it would look fantastic on darker skinned people.

WOW! Beta what a shade! its a neon orange which OCC describe as exactly that a "VIVIDLY NEON ORANGE". Again applied as opaque as expected and is a brilliantly unique shade suitable for any skin tone that wants to make a statement.

And finally Tone, well what a disappointment, this shade is the one I had the most trouble with. It applied sheerly (as you can see from the above photo) which I don't expect from Lip Tar and I found it gave the lips a really unwearable porn star pout. I usually love this shade which OCC describe as "SLIGHTLY GREYED MAUVE/PINK" but this one didn't do it for me.

'Reverb' 'Interlace' 'Lo-Fi' 'Analog' 'Beta' 'Tone'

Overall the Lip Tars in this collection were hit and miss for me. One major issue I've noticed with alot of Lip Tars is that if they are left sitting for a while they begin to separate and they become very water/oily with what ever base OCC use and the pigmentation isn't there anymore like it should be. Its frustrating and sure you can try and roll the tube between your hands and whack it around but it just doesn't work.

That being said there are of course some great shades in this collection my favourites being Lo-Fi, Interlace, Beta & Reverb.

Flawed is a stunning metallic old gold which OCC describe as a "TRUE, ALMOST BRASSY GOLD". Its like liquid gold to apply super silky smooth and uber blendable. I also really love that it is more of a brassy gold as some golds can look really off and yellow on the skin (I'm talking about you M.A.C 'Gold' Pigment).

Bitmap is a super sparkly country apple green with yellow undertones which OCC describe as "RICH, LEAFY GREEN WITH VIBRANT GOLD SHIMMER". I have to say I love this shade as a green type of shade its not that unique but there is something really special about Bitmap its like a chameleon sometimes green sometimes gold but definitely worth a second look because you might miss it.

Noise is a dusty raspberry with a blue duochrome which OCC describe as a "MUTED REDDISH PLUM WITH PINK/BLUE DUOCHROME" a very unique shade but out of all of the loose colours from this collection this one had the least pigmentation.

Artifact is a reddish brown with gold shimmer which OCC describe as "DEEP COPPER WITH RED SHIMMER" I have to say this shade is the one that excited me the least, sure it is a nice shade which I'm sure will appeal to a lot of people but to be its a bit blah.

Next Up Distortion my favourite shade which OCC describe as a"DARK, SMOKY NAVY WITH GREEN AND GOLD REFLECTIONS" which is reasonably accurate.

I love this shade because its super smooth and silky to apply, has great pigmentation and creates the perfect smokey eye.

And finally Hum,which is a peach with a fuzzy pink duochrome that OCC describe as pretty much exactly that "VIVID PEACH WITH STRONG PINK DUOCHROME".

This shade is very unique and I love the pink duochrome.

Swatches

'Flawed' 'Bitmap' 'Noise' 'Artifact' 'Distortion' 'Hum'

So Overall I really like the loose colour pigments in this collection, there were a few that didn't tickle my fancy like Artifact and Noise's lack of pigmentation but even then all of them were moderately pigmented which is an improvement from my initial review.

This collection gets a thumps up from me I love the old school static 70's TV influence as well, its certainly a unique concept and that is what OCC does best.

Although there were a few products that didn't win it for me I would recommend checking them out and trying them for yourself.

M.A.C BAFTA 'Red' Carpet Pout

On the night of the BAFTA's the M.A.C PRO team got to work on the award nominees at the Pelham Hotel BAFTA style suite and it seems the most requested look of the night was a red carpet pout.

The red lipped look was worn by many of the attendees that M.A.C made over including...

Kate Ford from Coronation Street.

Antonia Thomas from Misfits.

Charlie Brooks from Eastenders.

And Sheridan Smith who was presenting an award but is also from one of my favourite TV shows Jonathan Creek.

The look is surprisingly simple to create and with just a few products (from my style suite goodie bag) You can create it too.

Before and after applying your base apply some Strobe Liquid Lotion this will give the skin a soft luminous look and make the skin look naturally radiant.

After applying your base use 'Golden' Bronzing Powder to add depth and dimension to the face as well as a sun kissed glow.

'Golden' is a "Muted golden tan-beige with shimmer" M.A.C also have a range of different bronzing shades depending on your preference and skin tone.

Once you've done the face its time to move onto the eyes. This look doesn't have much on the eyes so the focus is on the lashes.

For the lashes there is this incredibly quirky new mascara that M.A.C have come out with called Haute & Naughty Lash.

It is double wanded! one for volumizing, which I personally apply first to bulk out the lash and build volume at the base.

And one for lengthening which I apply second to lengthen the lash and get out any clumps.

I love this mascara its brilliant, I usually use two different mascaras to do the same thing but now I don't have to which has certainly lightened my makeup bag.

Next up is lashes, these ones are number 33s a light natural looking lash that adds volume and of course Duo lash adhesive the best lash glue in the industry to make sure your lashes don't go astray on your big night.

Something else you don't want going astray is your brows so keep them in check with 'Clear' Brow Set (I use this stuff everyday).

And finally for the main focus of the look the red lip, start of by lining the lips in 'Cherry' Lip Pencil a classic M.A.C liner staple.

And then fill the lips in with 'Prolong' Pro Longwear Lipcreme which is a new formulation lipstick from M.A.C which is long wearing but surprisingly creamy and moisturizing to make sure your lippy stays on all night but doesn't dry out your lips.

'Prolong' is a "true red" with blue undertones, perfect for many different skin tones.

And this is the completed 'Red' Carpet Pout look.
